Hacked
My site was hacked over the weekend. I could not believed that it happened to me so I was surprised and was (half) laughing when I discovered last Saturday. My site was not at all that popular and yet somebody got interested in wrecking it.
It’s a good thing that we were able to come up with a fix. The site was restored and the stolen access was recovered. This whole hacking incident has taught me the following:
- You don’t have to be famous in order to be vulnerable to hacking.
- Do away with the defaults to increase security.
- Update your WordPress (blogging platform) version and plugins as soon as you receive a notification.
- Change your password regularly.
